Raybold departs summer league

Gainsborough Individual Darts League

DUE to work commitments Andy Raybold has decided to withdraw from the summer section of the league, but hopes to be back for the winter section.

This means that the two games he played have been made void and scores adjusted.

This week’s results, plus Andy’s withdrawal, means that there are a few changes at the top of the league. Steve Stanton won twice, first beating the league leader Andy Skelton 4-1 and then getting the better of Jim Jukes 3-2, hitting his second maximum 180 of the season in the process.

Jim Jukes reversed the 3-2 scoreline against Graham Page after Graham missed a number of doubles to win the match.

There were two wins for Pete Fearn this week, first beating Dudley Page 3-2 despite Dudley hitting his first maximum 180 in his three years in the league, followed by a comprehensive 4-1 win against Paul Key.

Paul also lost his other game when Bob Clarke won his first match of the season, just managing to get ahead in the fifth game to win 3-2.

Retford North Darts and Dominoes League

FOLLOWING their success in the darts section of the league and the Combination top four the Blues Club played the Brewers Arms once again, this time in the Johnny Gair Cup Final at the Fox and Hounds at Walkeringham.

The darts team got off to a great start with Andy Skelton, Steve Stanton and Dudley Page making it 3-0, but Tracey Stanton and Lynn Adams in the dominoes team both lost heavily 5-2 and 5-3, respectively.

Then Graham Page and Paddy Ferry both won in the darts and Andy Skelton and Bob Clarke won at dominoes to make the overall score 7-2.

The last darts game saw Bob Clarke come from behind to win, hitting 215 with his last five darts with a maximum 180 then single three and double 16 to make the score 8-2.

This meant that the Blues team could not be beaten and they won their third trophy with two more to play for, the Andrassy cup and the Terry Austin Cup, the first one this week the second next week.

The presentation is on 6th July.
