Hey big spenders

THE visitors to the Northolme on Saturday are no strangers to the Blues.

Gainsborough entertain Blue Square North big spenders AFC Telford, in the fourth meeting between the two sides this season.

Trinity have been dumped out of both the FA Trophy and Setanta Shield this season by a Bucks side which is currently sitting comfortably within the play-off spots.

Trinity played hosts to Telford in the FA Trophy in November, a game the Bucks won 2-0, and Dave Reeves made his mark on the opposition late on.

Reeves had been introduced as a late sub, and angered the Telford bench when he accidentally caught a Bucks defender with a high foot.

The game was settled by two late goals from the visiting side's strike force of Danny Carey-Benjamin and Terry Fearns.

Telford have since progressed to the semi-finals of the FA trophy, where they lost out to Conference Premier side York City over two legs.

Trinity also visited New Bucks Head Stadium twice in four days in September.

The Blues were beaten 3–2 in extra-time in the cup game on the Tuesday night, when Steve Charles played an experimental side, while Trinity were beaten 2-1 in the league meeting.

Gainsborough will be looking for their first victory in their last seven outings, a run of form that has brought an early end to the season, while the Blues will also be looking to win their first game at home since 27th January.

Captain Danny Anson is a doubt for the game after suffering a recurrence of a hip injury in the 1–1 draw at Vauxhall Motors on Saturday.

But there is some better news for Trinity, as Lewis McMahon returned to the side, and was able to complete the 90 minutes.

The Trinity coaching staff are also looking at next season, with Charles, assistant manager Reeves and coach Steve Blatherwick all visiting other clubs to cast an eye over prospective players for next season.

"The scouting missions have been quite successful so far," said Charles.

"We may sign someone this week, maybe Thursday."

Trinity have also allowed forward Colin Marrison to leave the club.

Marrison has joined Retford United on loan in a bid to get some games under his belt.
