Gunning for glory

GAINSBOROUGH'S football crazy youngsters had a ball this week – when coaches from Arsenal Football Club provided free training sessions.

Around 50 young Gainsborough youngsters are currently having the time of their lives at the coaching sesions, hosted by Arsenal trainer Mark Angel.

The event, which is being held at the Trent Valley Academy, is giving children from the four to 14-year-old age group the chance to learn new skills and, hopefully, impress a top class coach.

"We chose Gainsborough as the area is a very good one as far as football is concerned," said Mark.

"So far we haven't been disappointed. The kids are very keen and, who knows, we may be seeing some future professionals in the group."

Although it is Mark and his team's first time in the area, he says he is confident it won't be his last.

"We are seeing some real talent and the welcome we received has been a very warm one. So we are looking forward to returning one day," he added.
