FIVE Maltby Thai Boxing Club prospects gained valuable ring experience at an interclub show in York last weekend.
The show, at ‘Chok Dee Academy’ was run by former world champion Rich Cadden, and four Maltby juniors joined senior fighter Roy Burrows on the trip.
All four junior fighters, Lewis Moore, Jack Moore, Jordan Murphy and Sam Keane fought twice on the day, earning a special award in class the next day at the Coleman Centre in Maltby.
Coach Phil Glover, himself a former European Champion, has been taking fighters to shows up and down the country and said the gym fight shows could be tough, but were great preparation for full contact fights.
He said: “I was so proud of how all my fighters performed on the day, as they were in against stronger opponents who were much more experienced.”

“They all remained strong throughout and never gave up, showing true fighting spirit.”
Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand and its appeal is growing around the world, due to the boom in popularity of Mixed Martial Arts.
Many of the top fighters train in Thai Boxing, with its arsenal of knees, elbows, punches and kicks.
