Blues show fighting spirit

THE Blues came back twice to secure a creditable draw away at Fleetwood Town.

Both sides had chances to secure the victory, but Trinity came away with a point thanks to Luke Beckett's 12th goal of the season.

Trinity made one change from Saturday's defeat to Workington, as Ross Greenwood returned to the side in place of James Lukic.

Liam Needham skippered the side as he made his second start of the season.

Fleetwood's upright was struck in the seventh minute by Ryan Mallon, but Trinity fell behind when Adam Warlow headed home on 14 minutes from a low cross.

Ashley Burbeary brought Trinity level when he managed to control the bobbling ball on the edge of the box, and fire through a crowed penalty area four minutes before the break.

In truth, either side could have had the game wrapped up by half time, but both were guilty of wasting chances.

In the second half Williams hit the crossbar for Fleetwood, and some clever skills by Clancy on the left saw him take on three players and cross for Connors, who unleashed a great shot that was saved by Sollitt.

Trinity then fell behind when Warlow headed home another low cross from the left.

Trinity got back into the game when Beckett scored his 12th of the season from the penalty spot.

The big striker had seen his first effort saved by the keeper, only for the referee to incense the hosts by ordering a re-take. Beckett made no mistake at the second time of asking and secured a good away point for Trinity.

Manager Steve Charles was pleased with the fightback from his side, but was still concerned by the defending.

He said: "I thought a draw was a fair result. Both sides had enough chances to be out of sight by half time."

"I thought we got the rub of the green a little, but we need that. The lads have done well overall, but there are some things to work on."
