Bluebirds in the semi-finals

CO-OP Bluebirds secured the last of the semi-final places of the Calcutta Cup handicap competition with a 43-point victory over Blues Phoenix who could not overcome the 95 points handicap given to their opponents.

The three matches played in Division One all finished with 7-3 scorelines.

John Gazeley won all his three rubbers as his side Co-op Eagles beat Liberal Dynamics, while Phil Dixon did the same for Liberal Meteors as they beat VTF Warriors, and Blues Corinthians beat Liberal Beacons.

In Division Two Rob and Barry Lamb both won all their games to help Blues Club Phoenix to an 8-2 victory over Co-op Bluebirds.

Knaith Park Knights had a comfortable 9-1 win over GYM Batmen for whom Reece Simpson won their single rubber.

Blues Club Kestrels fought hard against Liberal Branch Dynamoes but still lost 6-4 with Liberal's Craig Walker winning his three ends.

Division Two - Blues Phoenix 8 (Rob Lamb 3, Barry Lamb 3, Reece Falla 1, plus doubles), Co-op Bluebirds 2 (Jamie Cook 1, Jacob Marshall 1); GYM Batmen 1 (Reece Simpson 1),, Knaith Park Knights 9 (Brry Hodgson 3, Trev Howdle 3, Norman Swindell 2, plus doubles); Liberal Branch Dynamoes 6 (Craig Walker 3, James Cooper 2, plus doubles), Blues Kestrels 4 (Dave Mason 2, Steve Mason 1, Billy Remington 1).

The league championships on 7th March are being held in the main sports hall at the near of the Queen Elizabeth High School starting at 9.15am. There is just time for any last-minute entries.
