All Blacks slaughter Sleaford II

Gainsborough entertained Sleaford in a merit table fixture on Saturday and ran out worthy winners after an entertaining game.

Gainsborough All Blacks 64 Sleaford III 0

The Gainsborough side was very similar to the one that played against Lincoln.

Consistency in availability has been lacking all season and with the side looking a little more settled it gave the players the opportunity to gel together, put training ground moves into practice and inflict their organised game plan on the opposition.

Both sets of forwards were relatively even but it was in the backs that the home side excelled.

All season long Gainsborough have done well in the forwards but usually outdone in the backs but that was not the case this week and the Gainsborough side scored 11 tries.

The All Blacks have played a half back combination of Ian Ross at scrum half and Tom Parkinson at fly half for the last few weeks, and this relationship is developing, Ross moving the ball away from set play efficiently allowing Parkinson to choose options for the backs to develop and attack.

Along with his work at fly half Parkinson is also developing into a good goal kicker, with Kyle Dean and now Kieran Padgett in the side the club have three kickers to choose from and confidence is developing in all three.

Padge scored two of the tries on the day and took over kicking duties late in the game, his overall performance seeing him walk off with the man of the match award.

This young man is developing his game at a good pace and proving to be a real asset to the team.

The whole team played well but on this day it was the backs that won the game for the club, and there are special mentions for Martin Roberts, Daniel Chadwick, Padge, Kyle Dean and the ever reliable Elliot Humphrey.

The match ball for this game was sponsored by Andy Day Services and it was good to give the sponsor a positive result for his support.

A big test awaits the All Blacks this weekend as they travel to Boston to play their seconds and try to win three on the bounce.
