Lynx Black Belt Academy in Retford held a martial arts competition as part of the Bassetlaw Games (w120211-2a)

LYNX Black Belt Leadership Academy kicked off their support for the Bassetlaw Games on Saturday, with an inter-house martial arts competition.

Master Andrew Blinston and Rachel Blinston hosted an afternoon of combat sports action, with board breaking, one step sparring and free style fighting.

The Retford academy played host to a number of different categories, with white belts to black belt Dan grades battling it out, before a presentation.

Master Blinston was full of praise for his students, and expressed his gratitude to those who supported the event.

He said: “Thanks to everyone whom made the day a massive success.”

“Thanks to our sponsors and the support from all the local businesses, parents and spectators for your huge applause, but most of all to all the students for your amazing enthusiasm, dedication and commitment – you made the day so special.”

Rachel Blinston added: “The teams of students who competed in this martial arts competition train in ‘Positive Start’, ‘Leadership’ or ‘Scholarship’ programs.”

“They had been practising extremely hard since before Christmas in preparation to make sure they could perfect their techniques.”

“With music and live commentary to compliment the competition the event went down a storm; it was something totally new for Retford.”
