A morale-boosting win away to Glapwell in the previous week, where Andy Dewick (55) and Brad Wilson (46) ensured Lea Park chased down 187 for victory, was backed up by another superb result at home to Farnsfield seconds.

The visitors were asked to bat on a ropy Marshalls wicket and made 157 thanks to a half century from captain James Bowker.

Park were able to provide control with their bowling with Dewick picking up 3-13 from nine overs, Andy Orton 3-46 from 13 and Chris Needham 4-31 from 13.

Lea’s ground fielding continues to be a major concern but a number of catches were taken and with Lee Mardle taking two stumpings.

Knocking off this total was always going to be tricky due to the surface but Mardle provided the much-needed resilience with an unbeaten 57.

Brad Wilson (18) also knuckled down in the face of some hostile bowling, as Farnsfield resorted to sledging until Wilson hooked Mark Hallam into the bowling green for six.

Once Wilson was out a few overs later to a brilliant catch a third slip, Needham (35no) joined Mardle and together they saw Lea home to victory and a much-needed 20-points.
