Gainsborough Trinity have welcomed an award winning local firm on board as their main sponsor for 2015/16.

Kal Group, who are based at Marshalls Yard Retail Park in the town, moved to Gainsborough six years ago.

The company’s managing director and owner Andrew Wood says putting something back into the town was his motivation for backing the Blues.

“I am very pleased to sponsor Gainsborough Trinity this season, and help Richard (Kane, Trinity chairman) in his quest to develop the club further,” he said.

“Being a football fan myself, I understand the importance of a football club in a community town like Gainsborough and recognise the good work they do on and off the field.

“For the last six years Kal Group have grown from strength to strength and have always tried to give something back to the town and community we work in.”

Kal Group are a digital marketing agency for the Leisure Industry, with a workforce of over 30.

They picked up two Gainsborough Business Awards last year, and Blues chief Kane hopes the two parties will work together for longer than the initial one-year deal.

““We are delighted to have Kal Group on board and appreciate their commitment to Gainsborough Trinity,” he said. “We are sure it will be a successful partnership between the club and Kal Group for a long time to come”

Preparations are in full swing for the new season at the Martin and Co Arena, with volunteers and supporters joining forces to help tidy and paint the ground ahead of the first pre-season fixtures.

In one of the more unusual events of the summer, the club chairman and a bee keeper from Elite Pest Management moved a swarm of bees from outside the ground.

And on the field, Steve Housham had his players back in training on Saturday.

First up in pre-season friendly action is Scunthorpe United on 11th July. Both clubs will observe a minute’s silence in memory of Gainsborough photographer Carly Lovett, who was one of the victims of Friday’s attacks in Tunisia, before the 1pm kick-off.
