Gainsborough Trinity have revealed a major off-field financial boost, ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup visit to Gateshead.
The Conference North side will be hoping to topple the Conference Premier high flyers away from home, to earn £12,500 in prize money.
But even before that, Trinity have confirmed that a new spirit of co-operation with landlords The Blues Club has seen rental fees for the Gainsborough Martin and Co Arena removed completely.
A statement revealed that the board of directors are meeting regularly with the Blues Club committee – a move in stark contrast to the apparent hostility that seemed to exist between the two during a previous regime.
It said: “The new directors and the committee of the Blues Club have, this season, been working together in a spirit of harmony and purpose to ensure that Trinity move forward. “
“The directors are grateful for meals for all players after the game and the use of the Club on the Park for visiting officials and directors.”
“It is, however, the use of the ground without the payment of any rent which is most valued – this ensures a considerable sum of money can go towards running a successful club.”
