Trinity pipped by Worksop at home

GAINSBOROUGH Trinity’s pre-season campaign ended in disappointing fashion as they went down 1-0 on the Northolme today.

Visitors, and one-time tenants, Worksop Town took the win with a goal from the spot by ex-Trinity man Mark Hudson.

The midfielder starred for Tigers, while Trinity opted to start with several fringe players in the line-up.

Manager Brian Little told the Standard he was somewhat disappointed with the performance,

“It was a little bit disappointing, but we made the decision after Tuesday’s game to rest most of the players for next week’s league game.”

“We saw this as a typical pre-season match. We got what we wanted out of it. We now know we should be able to pick the team we want to pick next Saturday.”

“I don’t think we should have lost the game, Lewis McMahon had two or three chances that on another day he would have scored,” he added.
