Town through to the semi-final with win

Gainsborough Town progressed to the next round of the Supplementary Cup, thanks to a home victory on Saturday.

The Lincolnshire League side met Hecklington United in the second round and put their name in the hat for the semi-final with a 4-2 win.

Liam Andrews bagged himself a brace, adding to goals from Craig Lill and Adam Hind at Marshalls Sports Ground.

Hecklington United’s reply came through Harry Kirwan and Pedro Sevilha, but it wasn’t enough.

Town are back in league action this weekend.

Richard Mallett’s men visit midtable Cleethorpes Town Reserves.

Gainsborough are fourth in the Lincolnshire Football League table, a daunting 14 points behind the leaders Hykeham.

But Town do have two games in hand over the side in first position.

Directly above Gainsborough sit Skegness Town, with Boston United above them in second.
