The free-to-enter Super Six game, run by Sky Sports TV every Saturday, challenges viewers to guess correctly the scores in six matches.

And dad-of-two Stuart McClung (48) cracked it last weekend, defying odds calculated by Sky’s number-crunchers at 214,589-to-one! He’s only the fourth winner all season, from hundreds of thousands of entries.

“I’d like to think there was a lot of skill involved, but really it was a complete freak!” Stuart modestly told the Dispatch this week.

“I’ve been doing it every week for the last three months, just as a bit of fun on a Saturday morning. I shout out some scores and my wife Karen, who is also a football fan, says yes or no to them.

“I never even checked the results last Saturday, and some mates found out before me. When Sky rang, I thought it was a wind-up!”

The six scores Stuart successfully predicted were: Manchester United 2 Sunderland 0, Burnley 0 Swansea 1, Newcastle 1 Aston Villa 0, Stoke City 1 Hull City 0, West Brom 1 Southampton 0 and Sheffield Wednesday 2 Middlesbrough 0.

“It’s not quite sunk in yet,” said Stuart, who works as a lithographic machine printer for a firm in Bilborough. “It’s unbelievable really, something you dream of.”

With the money, Stuart plans to pay off the mortgage, buy a new car and treat Karen and their 15-year-old twins, Euan and Eve, to a family holiday.

If ever he bumps into Wayne Rooney, he might want to buy him a drink too. For it was Rooney’s late 84th minute goal for Man United that sealed Stuart’s bonanza payout!
