Gainsborough Trinity will go into their FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie at Harrogate Town on Saturday full of confidence after a morale-boosting 2-1 league win at play-off chasing Tamworth.
Trinity have lost just once in six matches, despite remaining in the National League North relegation places, and manager Dave Frecklington said it would be a good day for the club.
“Hopefully we can progress to the first round proper. We have got nothing to fear at Harrogate,” he said.
Trinity lost 5-4 to the National League North leaders earlier in the season.and Frecklington added: “We had a good game with them.”
The manager was full of praise for his side’s fightback to win at Tamworth.
“We were excellent in the second half,” he said. “In the first half our system didn’t work as Tamworth had obviously done their homework on us. We went 4-4-2 and totally dominated the half.
“We have got real characters in the group and to go there and get three points was a credit to the players.
“The lads have regrouped after a bad result at Alfreton when I was really concerned.
“I couldn’t be any prouder of them.”
