Gainsborough Trinity Under 16s lost their 100 per cent winning record, with a lacklustre performance in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Dale Park.
Trinity did start the stronger, having plenty of possession but could find no end product and it was the home side who took advantage of the strong wind in their favour, going in front midway through the half when a free-kick from the halfway line was fumbled by the keeper to allow an easy finish.
In the second period with the wind and slope to their advantage, Trinity became encamped in their opponents’ half without creating any real amount of chances until Tom Williams headed over from close range.
Trinity finally got back on level terms when Williams scored from the penalty spot.
As the visitors pressed, the home side stood firm, putting in some stout defending to keep out the league leaders.
This Sunday trinity play their final match of the year at Park Tigers in the quarter-final of the Under 16 Divisional Cup.
