A group of Gainsborough Trinity fans will take great pride every time the net bulges at the Martin and Co Arena this season – because they bought them.

Blues fans Bruce McGhie, Mick Parr, Dave Laughton, John Metcalf, Steve Houghton, Barry Thornhill and Malcom Baratt wanted to give something back to the club they love.

McGhie said: “I get a Non League Paper every Sunday and I saw these nets advertised, and put it to a few mates and we all chipped in to buy them for the club.

“All the lads are true Trinity fans. We’re hoping it will be a successful season.”

Trinity chairman Richard Kane, who has coined a new club motto ‘In it Together,’ expressed his gratitude to the supporters.

“I am really pleased and humbled that our loyal fans have provided new nets for the new season,” he added.
