Gainsborough Trinity have let their hair down since shocking Wrexham in the FA Cup - but now it’s time to get their feet back on the ground.

Boss Steve Housham expects his squad to forget 7th November’s date with League One Shrewsbury Town and focus on the task in hand this weekend, a trip to Curzon Ashton in the league.

“The players have a job to do against Curzon in the league, our main priority,” he said.

“It was a great result on Saturday, we let our hair down for a couple of days, waited for the draw and then we concentrate on Saturday’s game.

“We’ve got Curzon, the players have been professional before and will know what I expect from them.”

He praised his players for standing up like ‘soldiers’ in Wales on Saturday, and hopes they’ll take the momentum gained into the Curzon game.

“On Saturday we were soldiers, and we didn’t make any mistakes and the players have got to take that on board.

“We’ve shown we can win games, we just have to get our feet on the ground and make sure we do our jobs on Saturday.”

Once the league fixture is over and done with, then Housham will allow thoughts to turn to the glamour of the cup.

“We’ll hype that game after Saturday,” he said.

“I’m pleased with the draw and getting through in the cup, for the whole of the town, the first round proper is coming back to Gainsborough and it’s been a long time coming.”
