Last week’s Lincolnshire Cup semi-final defeat was well and truly forgotten, when Gainsborough Trinity Under 16s reached the Dave Darby Trophy final.

Their 3-1 win over Park Tigers on Sunday booked a place in May’s final at Scunthorpe United’s Glanford Park.

Trinity went ahead midway through the first half when Tom Williams chipped the keeper.

In the second half Tigers grabbed an equaliser.

But with 15 minutes remaining that seemed to spark Trinity into life and they were back in front moments later when Daniel Krakow’s header seemed to cross the line as the keeper scooped it away but Keatan Gale was on hand to make sure.

Trinity secured their place in the final when Gale broke down the right and chipped the ball towards goal for Williams to score his 49th of the season.

All at Gainsborough Trinity would like to wish keeper Josh Brockett a speedy recovery from a bad injury sustained last week .
