Gainsborough Trinity were left to rue their defensive frailties, after a 4-0 defeat at Bradford Park Avenue on Wednesday night.
Goals from Paul Walker, Paul Beesley, Chib Chilaka and a Richard Marshall penalty consigned the Blues to a heavy defeat, denting their hopes of a top half finish.
The home side took the lead on the quarter hour mark through Walker, who turned Grant Black’s cross past Phil Barnes’ outstretched palm.
Just when it looked like the Blues may survive until half time with the single goal deficit, Marshall was brought down in the box, and stepped up to convert from the spot.
The goal seemed to deflate the visitors, and Beesley took advantage on 50 minutes with a superb strike from a very tight angle.
The scoring was completed seven minutes later, as the bustling Chilaka hammered the ball past Barnes from the edge of the area after his original shot was blocked.
