BIRCOTES Leisure Centre played host to a festival of sport on Saturday.

The S.A.N.D (See the Ability not the Disability) Sports Club held a celebration of sport, including an opening ceremony to coincide with the Olympic year.

Youngsters aged eight to 20 battled it out in archery, wheelchair basketball, tri golf and aqua zumba, in the free event which was included in the Bassetlaw Games campaign for 2012.

WORKSOP Basketball Club opened their doors to the public for an open training session this week.

The session was held to promote the club, the sport and the Bassetlaw Games programme – which aims to increase sporting participation in the district.
