Dewick helps Lea to winning draw

Bassetlaw Division Three

Bawtry 179 for 8

Lea Park 271 for 9

A fine knock of 131 from Andrew Dewick helped Lea to a winning draw against Bawtry.

Dewick was ably supported by Matt Housham (49) and several other batsmen who got themselves in but could not go on to record more substantial scores.

The hard hitting nature of the partnership between Housham and Dewick really knocked the stuffing out of the home side and when Jamie Wrath hit one of the biggest sixes seen for years, the home side visibly fell apart in the field toward the end of the Lea innings.

Bawtry did however set about their response confidently, but only opener Miller (49) really looked like he could cause Lea any trouble and when he was out Lea were in total control.

Home side captain Gaukrodger made 47 late on when the field was in close, but with Andy Orton (3 for 9) the pick of the bowling, Bawtry ended well short of their target.
