Rain prevented a conclusion as Aston Hall welcomed Coal Aston to Green Lane

Batting first, Coal Aston were in trouble at 25 for 4, when Laurence Browes held the innings together with 59 and Nick Horsfield chipped in with 30 to enable a final total of 196 for 8. Josh Coulson took 4 for 26 and Uzman Azeem 3 for 76 for Aston.

Andrew Haywood opened with 30 but Aston’s innings fell to 78 for 5 and Jan Grobbelaar (26) and skipper Rob Ward (30 not out) had improved affairs to 149 for 7 when rain prevented further play.

At Clifton Lane, Aston Hall B enhance their prospects of avoiding relegation by defeating Rotherham Town B.

Aston batted first and lost both openers with just a run between them.

Tim Shaw (32) and Scott Hibbett (63) improved affairs before Matt Sheppard hit 13 fours in reaching 76 not out to enable a final total of 235 for 9. David Mace took 5 for 52.

In reply Rotherham could only muster 118 all out. Kevin Heavy top scored with 48 and Luke Hall took 4 for 47 for Aston.

Barnsley C 123

Maltby 67

At Holgate, Maltby crumbled to a 56-run defeat against Barnsley C.

The hosts decided to bat first but could only muster 123 all out with Samuel Adams top scoring with 26. Gary Mill wreaked havoc with a reward of 6 for 51. Malby’s response was in disarray from the start and they were eventually all out for just 67. Perara took 3 for 31 but Ben Cherry was unplayable with 5 for 8 in five overs.

Division Four

Maltby B 112

Oughtibridge 115 for 3

Oughtibridge eased to victory at Muglet Lane over Maltby B.

Maltby compiled only 112 after being asked to bat first. Keith Twiss top scored with an unbeaten 44 and Josh Bacon scored a fine 25. In reply Oughtibridge reached their target for the loss of only three wickets, Judah Marri top scored with an unbeaten 31. Herbinder Lahl contributed an unbeaten 25 and Ali Akhtar scored 20.

Peter Brewster took two wickets for Maltby.
