THERE was a full programme of U10s and three re-arranged U8s games in the Kerry Gainsborough Youth League at the weekend.
The U10s League is beginning to take shape with Blyth and Gainsborough Trinity, both unbeaten, opening up a gap from third-placed Babworth.
League leaders Blyth had to be on top form to defeat Midtown 8-1 who missed several good chances, played good
football and all but matched Blyth, A. Walshaw scoring their goal.
Gainsborough Trinity defeated Retford United 11-2 to hold on to second spot. Their scorers were J. Weatherall (five), T. Williams (five), A. Bush and K. Gale plus an own goal.
Ordsall Terriers had a fine 5-0 away win at Blyton, while Babworth Rovers had to wait until the last kick of the game to record a 1-0 victory over Forrest Rangers.
In the U8s League unbeaten Ordsall Rangers kept their impressive record with a fine victory at Gainsborough Trinity for whom H. Farrow had a good game in goal.
Four goals for Blyton's J. Jupp and one each for B. Swaby and D. Guilliatt gave Blyton a fine victory over Walesby.

Gainsborough Trinity U10s 11, Retford United U10s 2
TRINITY had to come from behind to keep their unbeaten run going but they scored first when captain Jack Weatherell went on a good run and slotted the ball past the keeper.
But their lead only lasted a few minutes before Retford scored two quick goals to put them ahead.
Trinity dug deep and were rewarded with two more goals before half-time thanks to Weatherell and an own goal.
Gainsborough started the second half the stronger and almost straight away added their fourth when a 20-yard strike from Weatherell flew into the bottom corner of the net.
More goals came with Weatherell getting two more to round off a superb performance from him, top scorer Thomas Williams scored a hat-trick and Adam Bush got one.
But special mention must go to Keaton Gale who rounded off a great second half display with an overhead kick into the top corner of the net.
Retford never gave up and could have scored more but for good defending from Bradley Booth and saves from keeper Jake Ollerton.

Discoveries Minteq 10, Marshalls U12s 7
A SEESAW game of great attacking football by both sides was sadly, in effect, decided by a questionable linesman call.
Going 1-0l down inside 30 seconds away to the unbeaten league leaders, the signs were not good for Marshalls.
Discoveries had only conceded four goals in their three games but Marshalls knuckled down and more than matched them move for move and took the lead with goals from Dominic Thompson and Ryan Maclenan.
Without time to draw breath Discoveries equalised only for Dominic to show once again great scoring instinct to finish off a Ryan-Liam Brown move for 3-2.
Against the run of play Discoveries levelled again, then once more went into the lead and looked to take control of the game.
Marshalls showed determination throughout the team and some neat football from defence through midfield allowed Dominic to score his hat-trick, and it was 4-4 at half-time.
The Marshalls defence of Billy Remmington in goal, Joe Wilkinson, Liam Kettlewell, Joe Candlin and Camy Rainsforth showed a collective resilience and despite conceding goals looked strong with the support of the midfield quartet of Alex, Liam B, Corie and Lewis.
Marshalls never stopped attacking and their endeavour was rewarded with a Corie Woodcock belter to make it 5-5.
Then Alex Stevenson broke free and crossed to Dominic to net his fourth and James Metcalfe finished off a Lewis-Dom move to give Marshalls a two-goal lead.
But Discoveries somehow fought back with two goals to level the game once again at 7-7.
With the game looking to be ending in a draw Marshalls pushed forward and looked to have won the game when a ball was played into the penalty area, a Discoveries player handled but the ball ran to Ryan who netted only for the linesman to flag for an offside he saw somewhere earlier in the move.
This unsettled the whole Marshalls team and a lack of concentration allowed the Discoveries forwards to attack the exposed Marshalls back line, and a deflection made it 8-7 and they then scored two quick goals to give them a flattering 10-7 win.
All Marshalls players made positive contributions to an excellent team performance but they didn't have the luck when they needed it.
