DARREN Thirkell got back to something like his old form last week, winning the first three legs against last year’s champion Andy Skelton, before Andy hit top form to take the last two legs in 18 and 20 darts.

Andy made amends for this defeat late
r in the evening when he got the better of Pete Fearn, winning 4-1 to go back to the top of the league though Steve Stanton and Jim Jukes both have three games in hand.

Pete completed a bad night with another 4-1 defeat, this time to Steve Stanton.

Jim Jukes did his chances of winning the league a power of good with two big wins, the first a total demolition of a well off-form Bob Clarke followed by a 4-1 win over a luckless Alex Waugh.

Jim hit a season’s best 12-dart leg with scores of 121, 180, 80 and 120 shanghai finish, to give him the highest finish of the season so far. He also hit his second maximum 180 of the night against Bob.
