THE top of the table clash between Flying Scotsman and Ranby Rangers in the Gainsborough Standard Sunday Football League Division One saw Scotsman establish a 3-0 lead and seem well in control.
But Ranby reduced the arrears to 3-1 only for Scotsman to score a fourth. A refusal to accept defeat by Ranby produced two more goals but Scotsman held on for three very important points.
Also in Division One, Bridon Sports scored no fewer than 13 t
imes without reply against a Ship FC side who seemed out of their depth.
In Division Two Friendship Old Boys continued their excellent form to defeat a disorganised Hatfield Woodhouse WMC 8-0, while Vine Inn United were too strong for Half Moon Willingham and won 9-2.
A highlight in Division Three was the four goals scored by Matt Theaker which helped his side Grove Mill defeat Leverton United Reserves.
Very high scores were again evident as Gate Inn Sutton were 9-1 winners away to Blyborough United and Real Ropery outclassed Rose and Crown 9-1.
Two unbeaten Division Four teams, AFC Peacock and Owston Ferry, met at the Castle Hills ground with the Peacock team winning 5-0, Steve Biddle scoring four times to bring his tally to 14 in the last four games.
Elkesley narrowly defeated Friendship Over 35s 3-2, while Ship Inn United were good value for their 7-2 victory away to AFC Epworth.
Bottom club Mowbray Arms conceded another eight goals, this time against an in-form Cross Keys Wroot, while Kings Arms Reserves moved into the top three with a 5-2 away win over Ingleby Arms Marton.
In the Lincolnshire FA Sunday Cup Friendship FC had a fine win away to Sleaford Legionaires, scoring four times in the first 10 minutes and eventually running out 6-1 winners to go through to Round Three.
Also through to this stage are White Hart United who defeated Lincoln League team Crows Athletic 5-2.
