MISTERTON produced the shock result of the season when they visited Marshalls A and emphatically won 10-0 (90-61) with the rink of Freda and Jim Allsopp and Sheila Moody winning 28-13.
Prior to this victory Misterton had lost 10 in a row and looked like wooden spoon candidates. They have climbed to tenth and their fate now rests on whether they can reproduce this form and pull clear of bottom place.
The result doesn't make much di
fference to Marshalls A except to make overtaking Beckingham seem unlikely, but their Kelsey Cup position is secure.
Melrose SSC were given a hard time on three rinks by visitors Marshalls Sports but the home rink of Jack Brown, Tony Bainbridge and Graham Cowan won 30-9 to settle the aggregate to give Melrose an 8-2 (90-54) win.
Scotter 1 had an easy time at Marton GB, winning all four rinks comfortably 10-0 (103-41) to edge nearer to Melrose, and Beckingham visited Scotter 2 and came away 10-0 (103-48) winners to keep in touch.
Cottam 2100 enhanced their Kelsey Cup qualifying hopes with a very good 8-2 (83-63) win at Lincoln Co-op with two rinks winning by double figures.
Owston Ferry had one of those matches against visitors Rose A where none of the rinks were close but the aggregate was. However, three home rinks won to produce an 8-2 (80-71) result for Ferry.
The four Millennium Trophy matches produced one surprise - a victory for Misterton over Lincoln Co-op, showing that their win over Marshalls A was no fluke.
They won 31-21 at Co-op and draw 32-32 at home to win 63-53.
Scotter 1 beat Beckingham 43-16 at home and Beckingham won 25-22 on their rink which meant Scotter won easily 65-41.
Marshalls Sports beat Owston Ferry 34-23 at home while Ferry only scraped a 26-25 win at home so the Sports won 59-49, while Melrose SSC only beat Cottam 2100 33-25 at home but easily won away 39-20 to win 72-45 overall.
Marshalls A beat Rose A 73-55 in the Hazel Lawrence Trophy.
