The home side was sporting five young players all under the age of 17, which included newcomers Hayden Green, James Favell and Tom Brooks for their debuts.
Old timer Julian Clarke took the new ball and was backed up by 15-year-old Favell who struck
first blood, taking a wicket in his third over.
Further wickets fell at regular intervals with Clark bowling right through his maximum spell of 13 overs to finish with 3 for 29.
The introduction of Snell and Green kept the run rate down skilfully backed up by some great catches by Turver and young Brooks. Kiveton were finally out for 88 with Snell taking 3 for 35 and Green 3 for 6.
The Marshall's innings got off to the worst possible start when Metcalfe was run out by a 50-yard direct hit, and he was quickly followed back to the pavilion by skipper Brooks and Snell who failed to trouble the scorers.
Cooke and Doyle then tried to rebuild the innings but more wickets tumbled around Doyle until a partnership was formed with young Brooks, who battled with great patience and technique.
On reflection the new lads settled and performed well which bodes favourably for the season ahead.
A special thank you must be made to Beaker and Colesy for their tremendous preparation work undertaken at the club ready for the opening home game.
The next game is away at Nomads on Saturday May 3, meet at Marshall's 12.15pm.
