Gainsborough Standard Sunday League
Ingleby Arms 3, AFC Peacock 4
INGLEBY Arms were keen to show that they are better team than the result last time they met Peacock had suggested, when they lost 11-2. In the first half Ingleby created a number of clear-cut opportunities but were unable to take advantage.
Eventually a flowing move and some sharp interplay from Alec Ambridge-Richardson and Adam Warriner released Carl Kitchinson on the left, and he crossed for Michas Cylbuski to slide in bravely with the keeper to put Ingleby one up.
A deflected shot
wrong-footed the Ingleby keeper Matt Bury and Peacock were somewhat fortunate to go in at half-time level.
At the start of the second half Peacock were quick off the mark and attacked with purpose, going close on a couple of occasions but resolute defending from Merhawa, Banks, Watson and Horgan kept them at bay.
Ingleby then started to settle into their game again, with Adam Wilkins showing strength in the middle of the park, and they went ahead when Keith Fullwood crossed for Kitchinson to control the ball and slot it into the top corner.
The lead was extended when Kitchinson broke through the Peacock defence and Ambridge-Richardson finished smartly.
Unfortunately some of the Peacock players disputed the goal, leading to them being reduced to 10 men.
With 20 minutes to go Kitchinson had an opportunity to kill the game, but the Peacock keeper stayed on his feet and rebound was put wide. With the Ingleby defence looking strong enough hold out, the ball broke to Dan Anderson just inside the Ingleby half and he struck an unbelievable shot that put Peacock right back in the game.
With five minutes to go Peacock equalised from a corner and then with the last kick of the game they scored when Biddle headed in from a free kick to give Peacock all three points from a game Ingleby deserved to get more out off on the balance of play.
Man of the match was Carl Kitchinson.
