Gainsborough Standard Sunday League
Crooked Billet 1 v 1 Hatfield WMC
Crooked Billet were disappointed to only take a point from a team they had already beaten away.
The first half was a goalless scrappy affair with the best chance falling to Richardson who contrived to miss from 2 yards. Johnson and McClue were working hard in midfield winning tackles and J Bognar and Lugg had some joy down the right however Bil
let's attacks came undone in the final third.
A change in formation to 4-3-3 saw immediate impact when Jay Bognar was put clean through put his effort wide. Manager Mark King quickly abandoned and replaced the hard working Bembridge with A King.
However the Crooked Billet boys went behind when Woodhead dallied on the ball in defence and the Hatfield striker squared for a team mate to slot home. Billet equalised when a well aimed free kick from Wrath found Lee Bognar unmarked and he slotted home. Billet could have fallen further behind but for two world class saves from Gray and some brick wall defending from Jones. In the closing stages J Bognar hit the post with an excellent header and Billet had to settle for a point.
Thanks to laid back ref Mat Boles who reffed to his usual high standard.
Manager King said after the game 'we weren't at the races today' and has felt the pressure and stepped down with up and coming manager Horsley taking the reigns for the next game.
