Bassetlaw League Division Four
Nomads CC v Marshalls 2nds
ONCE again it was a dry, bright and fairly warm Saturday afternoon when the Marshall's skipper won the toss and invited Nomads to take the bat.
The opening bowlers of Clarke and Snee had a dream start and Nomads found themselves in deep trouble with the score at 8 for 4 after the first 10 overs.
A controversial stumping with the score on 34 was the turning point of the game unfortunately in
the favour of the Nomads team with Burton and Greenglade adding 152 for the fifth wicket.
Further wickets eventually fell with Nomads finishing on 209 for 8.
Clarke once again bowled neat and tidy to finish with a very respectable 3 for 32 of 13 overs.
Marshalls did not have the start they hoped for with Doyle out cheaply. Cooke and Metcalfe then added a patient partnership but were tied down by some tight bowling, Metcalfe being the first victim for 19 followed shortly by Cooke also for 19.
The introduction of Snell, who played some very nice shots, went for a well compiled 25. Skipper Brooks and Snee then raised the score by 50 runs before Snee was bowled for 21.
With only a few overs left it was down to the old boys of Brooks and Clarke to secure two batting points to finish on 140 for 5 - a disappointing finish for the Marshalls team after such a bright start.
Marshalls' next game is at home Cuckney on Saturday May 10 with a 1.15pm meet at the ground.
Net practice at Marshalls ground tonight (Thursday) at 6pm.
