A FOOTBALL fanatic is hoping for the "midas touch" after calling upon a psychic to help in his quest to get David Beckham back into the England Squad.
Former Gainsborough man Phil Leggetter, 27, set up the Bring Back Beckham website last year after the iconic sports star was left out of the England squad by coach Steve McClaren.
The website, which calls on McClaren to re-instate the former Man
chester United hero, has so far received more than 14,000 signatures from fans across the world - including Uzbekistan, America and India.
But as the cries for 'Goldenballs'' inclusion in the national team set-up fall on deaf ears, Phil has now called on renowned psychic Dean "Midas" Maynard for help.
Phil said: "Dean registered his vote with Bring Back Beckham right at the beginning of the campaign.
"The reason we have officially teamed up now is that we really think that Beckham, more than ever, deserves a place in the upcoming friendly game England have against Brazil at the new Wembley. Beckham is back playing, and playing well, for Real Madrid who are currently top of the Spanish league.
"The fact that Dean's a psychic, and may have some positive supernatural influence on things, is just a great bonus!"
The Sun newspaper published details of Mr Leggetter's website shortly after its launch, after the paper was inundated with calls for Beckham's return to the squad.
The Bring Back Beckham website has received more than 56,000 hits to date. And 14,160 people have so far registered their support on the site to bring back Beckham.
And Dean "Midas" Maynard, who has previously helped Reading FC and rugby side Wigan Warriors when their luck was down, is hoping he can help.
Dean said: "My work is similar to Uri Gellar - it's all about mind power and positive thinking and to date it seems to be working," he said.
"I came across Phil because I am a huge Beckham fan and I stumbled across his website and was very upset when McClaren dropped him from the England squad."
And Phil remained optimistic that Becks would make it back for the upcoming friendly at Wembley.
"The main thing standing between Becks and a place in the England squad is Steve McClaren's pride," he added.
"Beckham has been an excellent servant for his country and it would be a fitting honour for him to play for his country in the first game at the home of football - the new Wembley - and make his way ever closer to his 100th cap."
