I send my sincere condolences to the people of the Philippines.
I am very pleased that the British Government was one of the first to react and promise aid and I am also heartened by the response of the British people. We are one of the most generous in the world when tragedy happens.
Meanwhile I urge David Cameron to re-assess how the taxpayer funded £1bn per month is spent on overseas aid. He needs to urgently consider where our money is spent, who it is handed out to and where it would be better spent.
