Following your article published on 26th June 2013 (Ofsted rates ‘weak’ TVA as inadequate). I am writing as the Chair of Governors for TVA in support of the academy and the school improvements taking place.
Since taking up my post as Chair of Governors in January I have worked closely with the new Principal and am confident that the academy is on the right track to excel.
Last month’s Ofsted report did not present us with any surprises and work was already very much in hand. The report commented that the ‘school improvement plans address the right issues’ and so confirmed the areas that we need to take serious action on to help support and improve the education and life chances of the young people who attend the academy. The Principal, with support from the Governing Body and the academy’s sponsor, E-ACT, are this week finalising a comprehensive action plan, which will be approved by Ofsted before being implemented. The action plan addresses the concerns raised by the recent report and looks to support the ongoing changes and ensure rapid improvement across the academy. The academy will be sharing the action plan with staff, parents and students in due course.
I was disappointed to read that some parents had spoken with Councillor Robin Perry instead of the academy and would urge anyone who has any questions or concerns to contact the academy directly.
TVA remains committed to school improvement – raising the attainment and achievement of all our students. As the Chair of Governor’s I am confident we are on the right path to deliver this commitment. Whilst we have a long journey to go I am secure in the knowledge that we have the right leadership, staff and measures in place to ensure the academy and most importantly, our students, fulfil their full potential.
