TIME is running out for youngsters who want to enter to be the King and Queen of this year’s Gainsborough Riverside Festival.
A fun-packed day for all of the family is planned for Saturday 11th June featuring live music, stalls, fireworks and much, much more - but we need a young King and Queen to lead the parade.
Gary Cooke from Gainsborough Town Council said: “It’s really an opportunity to be a large part of Gainsborough’s major social community event of the year.”
“The King and Queen will lead the parade and get a VIP reception at the official opening of the Riverside Festival.
“They are an essential part of the day, and I would encourage any youngsters who want to be involved to write in - it would be a terrible shame if we didn’t have a King or Queen.”
He continued: “The Riverside Festival will once again make Gainsborough the place to be for all age groups, and there’s a large community commitment from lots of people around the town to make it a truly special event.”
“I would like to offer Smiffy’s and The Standard our gratitude for their kind contributions and invite all local businesses to get involved.”
Gary added: “We’re always on the lookout for volunteers so please get in touch if you’d like to lend a hand.”
The King and Queen of the Riverside Festival will lead the parade as well as winning goodies from the Gainsborough Standard, Smiffy’s and other local businesses.
