An amber weather warning remains in place for gale-force winds across the region today (Friday, 27th December) with gusts expected to reach up to between 60mph and 80mph.
There will be some sunshine and a few heavy showers but these will move through quickly. Temperatures are expected to reach 9C but it will feel much colder in the wind.
Tonight should be dry with the strong winds set to ease by the end of the night. Temperatures should stay above freezing at around 3C.
The weekend should be mainly dry with some sunshine and temperatures at around 7C.
However, there could be the odd isolated shower and it will feel cold in the wind and at night with temperatures dropping close to freezing.
Next week will initially start dry before more wind and rain sweeps in on Tuesday.
