Organisers of a summer feast of food and fun in Worksop are gearing up to make the fifth annual Big Lunch the best one yet.
The Big Lunch, a community initiative led by the Eden Project and partnered by Halifax, aims to bring local communities together and create a feel-good factor.
Outwood Academy Portland is hosting a range of activities on 2nd June between 12pm and 2pm to encourage the local community to come down, such as splash the teacher and a bird of prey display.
Carol Parker, community engagement manager for the school, is desperate for the community to come out and get a feel for what the school is all about.
She said: “All the money raised will be going back into the school in particular a couple of projects. Team Africa is to send a few of the pupils to Africa to help build schools on a scheme this summer and the other is to help turn the big piece of land in front of the school into a community garden.”
As the proud partner of the Big Lunch, an existing community initiative led by the Eden Project, Halifax is inviting you host your own Big Lunch on Sunday 2nd June. To find out more or request your free Big Lunch 2013 pack, visit www.thebiglunch.com.
