A WORKSOP man is running the London Marathon to raise money for Children With Cancer.
Dale Varns lost his father to an Asbestos related cancer in 2010 and watched his brother successfully beat the disease.
Now he is taking on his biggest ever physical challenge by completing the gruelling 26.2 mile course in the capital on 22nd April.
“Cancer treatment does bring hope and breaks through barriers,” said Dale.
“My younger brother Chris is living proof, after ground breaking stem cell transplant and treatment for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.”
“You appreciate the little things in life, as did my brother when he held his new born daughter Olivia Hope when he was on the road to recovery and thankfully now in remission.”
Dale has been training hard for the race, and has found it easier than he thought to get back into his stride.
“I used to do some half marathons, and I basically decided it was now or never,” said Dale.
“It’s not easy, but it will be so worth it in the end.”
