A Worksop cafe is celebrating after being voted Café of the Year 2014 by Guardian readers.

Jilly’s Cafe, on Gateford Road, was recently presented with the award after they were announced as the best in the business.

The prize is a perfect way for owner’s Jilly Chappell and Kevin Bloomer, who both live in the town, to celebrate their five years in charge.

“It was brilliant when we found out, I was really giddy,“ Jilly said.

“It is nice because it makes you feel appreciated for all your hard work.”

“It was a real surprise because there was a lot of competition.”

“I would like to thank all our loyal customers for voting for us.”

“We must be doing something right because they keep coming back.”

The cafe serves up homemade food to its regulars on a daily basis and the trophy is now on show at the front counter.

“It is there for all to see,” Jilly added.

“Because we are not based right in the centre of town, I would urge people to walk that extra bit further to pay us a visit.”

“We are approaching our five-year anniversary so it has made it even more lovely.”

Jilly’s Cafe is open 09.00-15.00 from Monday to Saturday so be sure to pop in and introduce yourself.
