Friends and families are being encouraged to come along to Worksop Water Day along the Chesterfield Canal.

The waterside fun day will include lots of activities including canoeing, angling and walking. There will also be other visitor attractions along the canal for all to enjoy on the day.

The free event will take place on Saturday 6th June near the Lock Keeper pub, from 11am-5pm.

The day is being organised by the Canal and River Trust, Chesterfield Canal Trust, the Angling Trust, Focus on Young People in Bassetlaw and Bassetlaw District Council, and supported by the Grafton Angling Association, Worksop and District Anglers Association and the Lock Keeper Pub.

Glyn Williams, member of the Canal and River Trust’s East Midlands waterway partnership, said: “We held a similar event last year which was a great success and this promises to be even more fun and a great opportunity for people to try something new.”

Families are encouraged to wear waterproofs and suitable footwear and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

There will be free trips on the Chesterfield Canal Trust’s boat Hugh Henshall.
