A stones’ throw away from The Torksey Tea Rooms and a short walk from The Hume Arms, it seemed implausible that such a such a small village could contain yet another culinary gem – but you’d be wrong.

The Standard described The Wheelhouse as ‘a warm and homely environment. It feels like you’ve been welcomed into someone’s dining room, with nick-nacks, paintings and model boats giving the dining area an authentic antiquity and familiar charm.’

We also said that ‘service is truly second to none’ and ‘if you want your money to go that little bit further for a truly incredible and unforgettable meal out, then visit The Wheelhouse – where your pound buys nothing less than perfection.’

Manager John Barrett said that The Wheelhouse offer ‘just good old-fashioned, tradtionally-cooked British meals.’

“We offer a really laid back family-friendly atmosphere,” he said.

“It’s very relaxing and a place where you can really take your time.”

John continued: “We have very generous portions of everything, from every kind of steak to a range of fish, gammon and really wholesome British food.”

The Wheelhouse is open in the evenings at Torksey Lock, near the Torksey Tea Rooms.
