MORE than 800 residents have contacted Bassetlaw Council about a major project to bring new housing, employment land and traveller plots to the district by 2028.
The authority launched the consultation earlier this month seeking views on plans for 6,000 new homes, 100 hectares of employment land and 38 traveller plots.
A council spokesman said they have had a good initial response to the launch and urge more people to come forward with their views.
“Formal responses to the document are trickling in, but we would urge people to submit their comments for us to take them into consideration,” he said.
Feedback gathered over the remaining seven weeks will be used in a second consultation planned for summer next year.
Portfolio holder for community prosperity and planning chairman Coun David Pressley said: “This is an extremely important public consultation as the views we get back from residents will help shape the future of Bassetlaw for the next 17 years,” he said.
“The council wants to understand what local people want for their communities so that new development is delivered in the places and manner people wish to see it.”
Public consultation events over the next few weeks include:
Saturday 26th November: Worksop Sainsbury’s, 10am-12 noon
Monday 28th November: Cuckney Village Hall, 4-6pm
Tuesday 29th November; Worksop’s Queens Buildings, 10am-4pm.
