Upton and Kexby: Quiz

Last week’s quiz was in aid of George Henderson Lodge. Winners were The Oblong Table and The Quips and £81.50 was raised, This week’s quiz is for John Coupland Hospital.

Friendship Club

At the last meeting member Jean Morley gave a very interesting talk with a slideshow of her recent trip to Australia. The next meeting is on 24th October with Doug Carstairs giving a talk on Lincoln prison and castle.


The recent coffee morning hosted by the WI was a huge success, raising £1,391 for Macmillan funds. Particular thanks go to Lol and Jenny at the Rose and Crown, also Mr and Mrs Trevor Wlliams who organised the Lucky Square game. Thanks also to Ann Taylor for the quiz and Scott Hogarth and football friends for a donation in memory of his late father. Last but by no means least many thanks to all who donated prizes, ran stalls, gave their time and baked cakes.

Women’s Institute

President Mrs J. Anderson introduced Colin Hornsey who gave an interesting talk on gemstones, describing how he made them from ordinary stones. Following his talk members then enjoyed their annual harvest supper.


There is no service at the church this Sunday. There will be the usual service at the chapel at 10.30am led by Mr M. Coates.
