TV twins settle in at Woodsetts School
Twins Jasmin and Nicole Parkinson, four, stared in the TV show Doctors (w120920-8a)
They may only be four-years-old but already Jasmin and Nicole Parkinson have a successful career behind them.
The budding actors starred in the hit BBC television programme Doctors for three years, regularly making the journey to Birmingham with their parents for filming. But nowadays their lives are a little less showbiz, as they settle into life in year one at Woodsetts Primary.
Mum Alison, who lives near Lindrick Dale, said her daughters loved their time on the television show starring as Izzie Torres. They also appeared in an episode of Channel Four’s Shameless.
“They loved everything about it. Everything about it from the hotel we stayed in to seeing their on screen family - they loved their on screen mum and dad,” she said.
“When they went for their injections recently I said we were going to the doctors and they thought we were going back to Birmingham for filming!”
Alison signed the girls up to an agency when they were just 18-months-old after a friend mentioned that a television show was searching for twin girls with dark hair.
She said: “We got the call on the Wednesday and were down in Birmingham for filming on the Sunday.”
“It depended on the story line as to how long we’d be down their for. When they had big story lines we would be down on Sunday, back home on Friday and then down on the Sunday again.”
Jasmin and Nicole would split their time equally infront of the camera, each enjoying their time in the limelight.
Their biggest story line came when Izzie was kidnapped, a theme that hit home with Alison.
She said: “I didn’t used to watch the show because it was on in the daytime, then after the girls started I watched them all. We have them all recorded.”
“The one that touched me was the Carousel episodes when they got kidnapped. That really, really touched me. It was very real.”
“The girls recognise themselves on television but I don’t think they realise what they do.”
“If they ever wanted to get into it (acting) the we would look into it. At the moment they are little posers infront of the camera and love having their picture taken.”
