Tudor specialist is giving a lecture at Gainsborough Old Hall

Alison Weir has 12 histories to her credit and she has written four novels.

Her works on the Tudor period have made her a best-selling author. She is the highest-selling female historian in the United Kingdomher books and much in demand. She is no stranger to the Old Hall.

In turning to Elizabeth of York, daughter of Edward IV and Elizabeth Wydeville, she is faced with her greatest challenge yet.

Lord Thomas Burgh who was lord of the manor of Gainsborough during this period & who lived at Gainsborough Old Hall would have known Elizabeth of York. She was the daughter of Edward IV whom Lord Burgh served loyally and when at Court he would have met Elizabeth.

The lecture is part of the Sunderland lecture programme, which is in memory of the late Tom Sunderland who was the second chairman of the association which saved the Old Hall from dereliction in 1949, and marking its 65th anniversary this year.

The talk is taking place at Gainsborough Old Hall on Saturday 10th May at 2pm.
