TRAIN lovers are in for a treat as the next open day for the Gainsborough Model Railway takes place this weekend.
Gainsborough’s ever popular attraction represents the East Coast Mainline from Kings Cross to Leeds Central in the heyday of steam in ‘O’ gauge. All the usual locos will be running such as Flying Scotsman, Mallard and many other locomotives.
Members have been busy working on the scenery including new station buildings at Hitchin which is in the large Leeds Room in the former Victorian school. The huge model is run to a timetable with signals and bells as on the real railway and we try to run the trains on time.
The open day takes place on Sunday 17th July at GMRS on Florence Terrace from 1.30pm - 6pm.
Admission is £4 for adults, £3 for children and senior citizens £3 and £10 for a family ticket.
