The world famous Flying Scotsman will pass through Nottinghamshire today and tomorrow following a ten-year multi-million pound restoration.

The first opportunity to see the locomotive is today as it makes its way from the National Railway Museum in York to Wembley, ahead of its official inaugural journey from King’s Cross to York on Thursday.

Departing the York museum at 9.43am, the train will pass through Doncaster before arriving into Retford at 11.49am, departing at 12.08pm.

Tomorrow, the outward journey from London King’s Cross leaves at 7.40am, arriving at York at approximately 12.30pm, having again passed through Nottinghamshire. It will pass through Retford at 11.18am.

The Flying Scotsman will pass through the area again on June 18 on its way back to London, after making its way from King’s Cross, through Peterborough, then Spalding, Sleaford, Lincoln, Gainsborough and Grantham, before returning along the East Coast main line.
