GAINSBOROUGH’S Performing Arts Club is making improvements to its centre and looking for help and new volunteers.

The much-celebrated Performing Arts Club at Gainsborough’s X Church has many activities and events planned through 2011 and beyond.

But to enable the group to implement some of these plans, such as delivering vocational training, developing their workshops whilst also providing a place for the local community to meet, they say that improvements will need to be made at the X Church.

Now they need your help to find funding so the show can go on and the church can become a focal point and centre for the local community as a whole to enjoy.

“To facilitate this we intend to develop a Friends of the X Church working party which will assist in sourcing funding and liaising with Marcus Hammond to take forward the development process at the church,” says PACS chairman Richard Craig.

“PACS see this project going through several phases of development.”

“The first four phases would be to improve washing and toilet facilities, repair and develop the church hall and its linked buildings and rooms, install heating in both the church and the church hall and to develop a community tea room and community meeting place.”

He continued: “These are the priority areas that we have identified in consultation with Marcus, our group, Lincolnshire County Council, NCFE and the Jubilee Fund.”

“It is envisioned that the X Church shall become a centre for the community and an arts and heritage centre.”

Richard added: “This being the case, we write to ask those of you that are closely linked to the activities that take place at the X Church to express an interest in helping to take this project forward.”

“Once again PACS would like to take this opportunity to thank those involved for supporting all of our activities, events and for the continued loyalty and enthusiasm you give to what we do and what we have achieved to date.”

“We couldn’t do it without you.”

If you would like to know more or find out about what would be involved you can contact Club Secretary Sue on 01427 612870.

Or you can speak with any of the PACS volunteers at rehearsals at the X Church every Saturday between 1.30pm and 4.30pm or on a Monday evenings between 7pm and 9pm.
