South Yorkshire Police has appointed Andy Holt as its new deputy chief constable.

A former chief superintendent with Greater Manchester Police, DCC Holt joined South Yorkshire Police in 2006.

Prior to joining the police he was an officer in the Royal Marines and saw active service in Northern Ireland and the Falklands.

Chief Constable David Crompton said: “I am delighted Andy Holt has been appointed as the new deputy chief constable of South Yorkshire Police.”

“He is a vastly experienced officer with wide knowledge of the force and his skills and abilities are ideally suited to the challenges which lie ahead.”
