A TALENTED youngster from Queen Elizabeth’s High School in Gainsborough is celebrating after winning a nationwide design a bookmark competition.

Year 7 pupil Sola Taiwo’s winning design will now be made into bookmarks and distributed to thousands of bookshops across the UK after coming top in the National Book Tokens’ Inspiring Choice Design A Bookmark competition.

She also won £250 in book tokens for the school, £100 worth of tokens for herself and £100 in book tokens for her teacher.

The 11-year-old said she was shocked by proud when she first heard the result.

“I was surprised by absolutely ecstatic,” she said.

“My design is based on the idea that when you’re walking past and browsing the books, they could be looking back at you.”

She added: “I really enjoy reading and I’m so proud that my bookmark design will be in thousands of books are the country.”
